Banana Fritters are a sweet, golden treat packed with ripe banana flavor and warm spices. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, they’re a quick and delicious taste of the islands—perfect for breakfast or a snack!

📝 Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas (the riper, the better!)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder (optional, for a slightly fluffier texture)
  • Water (1–2 tbsp if needed to loosen batter)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

🔪 Instructions

1: Mash the Bananas:

  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until mostly smooth (a few small chunks are okay).

2: Mix Ingredients:

  • Add the sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and salt. Mix well.
  • Stir in the flour and baking powder. Combine until a thick batter forms.
  • If it’s too thick, add a tablespoon or two of water to reach a scoopable consistency.

3: Heat the Oil:

  • In a frying pan, heat about ½ inch of oil over medium heat.

4: Fry the Fritters:

  • Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil (flatten slightly with the back of the spoon).
  • Fry for about 2–3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy on the edges.

5: Drain & Serve:

  • Remove fritters and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve warm. You can dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with honey if desired.
